At A Step Above Academy, we’re proud to provide a caring and safe environment for your children. By following our mission, vision and values, we create a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming learning environment for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. We provide our students with the tools they need for future happiness and success. Our unique programs incorporate a variety of educational theories, while always keeping the child’s best interests in mind and allowing for hands-on, experiential learning. Being at one with your mind body and soul is also important to us to we incorporate a spiritual kick to our program .

OUTDOOR PLAY
Depending on your family’s schedule, our Outdoor Play might be the right fit for you. No matter what your child needs, each of our programs will provide the support and tools necessary for optimal growth.
MEDITATION
Meditation can help kids read and respond to internal signals of stress before their developing brains and bodies give in to a full-blown tantrum. The key is intuiting what your child needs to come back into balance and giving him or her the tools to practice.
INFANT ROOM
our infant program that offers a comfortable, positive and nurturing environment to the infants. The infant rooms are set up according to the NAEyc and PA Keys early standards to meet individual child's need such as cognitive, language, perceptual-motor, physical and social skills. NAEYC standards allow us to provide the need of security the warmth that infants bloom on. Having a trusted teacher in the classroom that responds to the infants' individual needs, cues will help the infant to build a base security that will support their exploration, leaning and identity formation.
Infants classroom uses creative curriculum lesson plans to provide intellectual activities through and motor experiences such as tummy time, story time, and singing. Each infant has different needs, daily routines, and we like to continue with the same routines to make the infants as comfortable as possible.

YOUNG TODDLER CLASSROOM
Our goals for this class include assisting your child in the process of learning about themselves and others, being independent, their feelings, how to communicate effectively as well as fine and gross motor development and the acquisition of thinking skills.
We understand that young toddler teacher has very important role in the child life at this stage. The young toddlers are discovering their verbal abilities and rely on teachers to translate their actions and babbling into words.
OLDER TODDLER CLASSROOM
Toddlers are primarily concerned with developing an understanding of who they are. Beginning at around 18 months, identity becomes dominant theme for them. Developing this sense of self has a lot to do with their desire and drive for independence and control.
Our classroom is designed to concentrate individuality, self-help skills such as potty training, dressing and undressing ourselves, feeding ourselves with a spoon and cleaning up after meal and play time.
At circle time the verbalization skills are encouraged by learning and repeating Nursery Rhymes, singing songs, ABC’s, days of the week, months of the year, colors, shapes and by personal interaction between the children and teacher.
PRESCHOOL
In Preschool we concentrate on positive social skills, introduce name recognition, as well as mastering the concepts of colors, shapes and numbers. Our goals in this class include assisting your child with Social/Emotional Development including a sense of self, responsibility, pro-social behavior and fine and gross motor development. Cognitive development in the areas of learning and problem solving, logical thinking, representation and symbolic thinking as well as language development in the form of listening, speaking, reading and writing are also reinforced. Parent participation for certain class topics is requested.
Our classroom is set up in educational learning centers designed to encourage the children to make choices and decisions on their own. Our curriculum includes weekly themes, simple science units, math, music, arts and crafts and plenty of reading in order to provide your child with a well-rounded educational experience. Our teachers promote social interaction, logic and characteristics of thought, reasoning, executive functioning, early literacy interest and skills.
